A Warm Welcome in Burghausen

Our industrial sales team recently enjoyed a fantastic view of Europe’s longest castle while visiting Wacker Chemie’s largest production site nearby. Founded in 1904 at this site in Burghausen, Wacker has grown into an industry giant with 27 global sites and a pioneering portfolio of over 3,000 speciality chemicals. However, this powerhouse needs little introduction.

As the exclusive UK distributor for the industry-standard Vinnol and Vinnapas solid resins for over 40 years, this trip was a valuable opportunity for our industrial team to connect in person with both new and familiar faces at Wacker. Touring the massive Burghausen site – a 2.6 square kilometer hub employing over 8,000 people – showcased the innovation and scale behind one of our longest-standing partners.

Think you know Wacker products? Here are a couple of exciting insights we picked up:

– The Wacker solid resin range includes a completely unique, bio-based co-monomer, vinyl laurate, which enhances flexibility and water resistance.
– The latest Vinnol addition is a ground-breaking PVC copolymer soluble in UV-curable monomers
-Vinnapas PVAc resins are soluble in solvents so mild, they’re exempt from VOC regulation in some global districts.

These are just glimpses from a packed three-day agenda that covered technical and commercial discussions on polyvinyl acetate homopolymers and copolymers. We even dusted off our lab coats to work hands-on with Vinnol resins and explore their benefits as heat-seal coatings.

And to top off the excellent hospitality, we enjoyed a traditional Bavarian meal with our hosts; it turns out this region makes food and wheat beer just as high quality as their chemicals! Here’s to more great collaborations ahead.
